Now that the weather is getting warmer, we have some great prices on shorts and short sleeve shirts! Talk to Lisa if you are interested in seeing what we have for sale.

Uniform Update

Our school uniform next year will change a little bit and hopefully be a little easier on parents and pocket books. Pants, skirts, dresses must be blue, black or khaki in color. Shirts for next year may be any solid color but should have a collar.

As the weather grows warmer (finally), there are just a couple of reminders for students.

  • No tank tops or spaghetti straps
  • Shorts and shirts must be of appropriate length for school.
  • No flip flops or toeless shoes.
  • Socks must be worn with sandals.

Summer Learning Tips

Read Every Day

Take your kids to the library often and let them choose which books to check out. Listen to books on tape. Subscribe them to a magazine. Take turns reading to each other. Allow your kids to stay up a half hour later at night as long as they're reading.

Use Math Every Day

Practice the multiplication tables by making each point in a basketball game worth 7 points (or 8 or 9). Ask your kids to make change at the drive-thru. Make up math word problems in the car and at the dinner table.

Get Outside and Play

Find ways to ensure your child is active for 60 minutes each day. Have him or her walk the neighbor's dog, go swimming, play badminton or soccer, take walks, or go for family bike rides. Look for safe, fun ways to play outside together year-round.

Write Every Week

Ask your child to write a weekly letter to his or her grandparents, relatives, or friends. Encourage him to keep a summer journal. Have her write the family's grocery list. Organize a secret pal writing project for adults and kids at your church or in your community.

Do a Good Deed

Encourage your child to help out neighbors or friends. He or she can volunteer with a local group or complete a service learning project. Suggest that your child set aside part of his allowance for charity.

Safety

We continue to monitor supervision of our students at arrival and dismissal from the Academy, on the playground, in the hallways , and in the gym/cafeteria. We continue to ask for your help in this endeavor so that “best practices” provide for your child’s safety at all times. If you are running late, a telephone call to our office (684-6484) is appreciated. Students not picked up by 3:45 pm will be delivered to OASIS to await the arrival of their parents and charged $ 2.00 until 4:00 pm, when normal OASIS fees will prevail. Children who are unsupervised by an adult will not be able to leave the building and wait for their ride. Children will need to be picked up or they will be delivered to OASIS. Our children worry when a parent or other designated adult is not waiting for them.

Your Concerns

Your concerns are my concerns. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions or suggestions for improving our already great school, Ms. Parrish at 684-6484.
