Works of Art
The art program at Bay County Academy is varied and multilevel. On the classroom level, Paragon offers teachers and students a multitude of hands-on activities to complete. Students create instruments from the culture they are studying, make cave paintings and draw in the style of Michelangelo (upside down!). They construct pottery vessels to hold their grains from harvest and learn valuable life skills by creating costumes, clothing and designing multi-cultural homes. All these activities and more are at the center of Paragon.
In addition to the wonderful projects the students complete with their classroom teacher, the school has an art teacher who is contracted by the Parent Teacher Organization. This very talented teacher does a number of projects with them, including sculpture, printmaking, painting, drawing, drafting, and pottery. The students get the chance to experience a number of different media and techniques that they can later apply to other school projects. In addition to the Paragon projects that are completed in the art room, students get a chance to explore current art practices and become exposed to a variety of artists and their histories.
